Cookies Policy

This page explains what cookies are, which ones we use, and how you can control them. We only set non-essential cookies with your permission.

Your choice matters. When you first visit rumosinks.co.uk, a cookie banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your mind at any time — look for the cookie preferences link in our website footer, or clear your cookies as described below.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit it. Cookies let a site remember things about your visit — like what's in your basket, or whether you've seen a particular message before — so it doesn't have to ask you again on the next page.

Are cookies safe?

Yes. Cookies can't carry viruses or malware, and they don't give us access to your device. The cookies we use don't store sensitive information like your card details, and any personal data they do reference is handled in line with our Privacy Policy.

The cookies we use

We group cookies into four categories. Only the first is set automatically — everything else requires your consent through our cookie banner.

Category What it does Needs your consent?
Strictly necessary Keeps the site working — your shopping basket, checkout, and staying logged in to your account. No — the site can't function without these.
Analytical / performance Tells us how many people visit, and how they move around the site, so we can find and fix problems. Yes
Functionality Remembers your preferences between visits, like your region or previous choices, so we don't ask twice. Yes
Targeting / advertising Used by us and our advertising partners to show you more relevant ads elsewhere online, based on pages you've viewed here. Yes

Third parties we work with — for example, analytics or advertising providers — may also set cookies through our site. We don't control these directly, but they only activate if you've consented to the relevant category.

How long do cookies last?

Some cookies are session cookies, and are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Others are persistent, and stay on your device for a set period so we can recognise you on a return visit. Where we use persistent cookies, we keep them for no longer than necessary for the purpose they serve.

Managing your cookie choices

The most direct way to control cookies on this site is through our cookie banner and preferences panel, available at any time via the link in our footer. From there you can accept or decline each category separately, and change your mind whenever you like.

You can also control cookies at the browser level. Turning off non-essential cookies there works too, though it applies to every site you visit, not just ours. Turning off strictly necessary cookies will affect how our site works — for example, your basket may not remember items between pages.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), you have the right to decide which non-essential cookies are set on your device, and to withdraw consent at any time. If you have concerns about how we handle cookies or personal data, you can contact us using the details below, or raise a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent regulator for data protection.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new cookie or change how an existing one works. Check back here for the latest version.
